If your e-mail address is unprofessional it may send wrong messages to the employer. It might have been a great idea to use a cool e-mail address during your college years but addresses like [email protected] are no longer the right ones to add in your resume. Try to create a fresh e-mail address that you will be using it specifically for all your professional networking and job searches. Mention this e-mail address in your resume.
Summary Section: At the top of your resume, you should include a brief (and I'm talking two or three sentences) "Summary Section" where you list the specific skills and experience you have that match up to the position/job you are applying for. While writing a summary section is often neglected by job applicants, it acts as an easy and quick way for a hiring manager to quickly scan your resume and make a judgement on whether they want to read your resume or not. This is easy (and highly effective) if you just take a few minutes to do it right.
Of course, just because you shouldn't "never" use a picture, that doesn't translate to "always." When don't you send your picture in?
